The season of giving was alive and well in a BIG way this year. With the help of our generous supporters, the Resort 2 Kindness (R2K) 2013 BIG GIVE raised $24,098.49 in donations to benefit the victims of the Colorado floods that devastated areas of the state this past September.

From the moment the Big Give began on November 15, R2K received an outpouring of monetary donations and gift cards to places such as Target, Wal-Mart, Safeway, King Soopers, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Starbucks, and many more. And because of your sincere generosity, R2K was able to provide a donation of gift cards and cash totaling $15,133.49 to the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) in Boulder, CO, and $7,500 in cash donations and gift cards to five deserving families and victims in Jamestown, CO.

On December 19, R2K board members traveled from Denver to Boulder to present the donations to three of the five flood victims from Jamestown, Colorado, and to the Emergency Family Assistance Association and they, too, were completely elated and overwhelmed by the kindness of our supporters. Because of your generosity, EFAA was able to distribute gift cards to 118 deserving families which in turn helped 318 individuals in need.

The donations for the five special victims from Jamestown consisted of a $1,000 check for each individual family. Much to their surprise, they also received a small Christmas tree, with $500 in gift cards dangling from its branches. As R2K volunteers listened to them recount their stories of the flood and its devastating aftermath, we were even more thankful that your generous support would provide them each with ways to rebuild physically and emotionally.

With donations sent in from coast to coast, the flood victims are surrounded with love from Colorado and beyond. Thank you for your participation in our annual BIG GIVE and for brightening the hearts and lives of so many affected by 2013’s flood devastation
