You could tell by looking at them that the pups sensed the day was going to be special and it was! As volunteers, vendors and food tucks set up for Trucks 4 Pups 2015, the puppies wriggled about in their crates with doggy smiles from ear to ear and little tails frantically wagging as they hoped to find a loving family to take them home! Everyone who attended came in the spirit of helping these big hearted, loyal and happy balls of love find the “forever homes” they deserved and as a result, 35 of the pups were adopted that day!

In addition to the adoptions, more than $5,000 in cash and in-kind donations were raised to help the participating dog rescues, 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue, Every Creature Counts, Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue and Waggin’ Tails Canine Rescue, continue their passionate work of caring for homeless dogs. The money and supplies raised will go towards helping even more dogs, providing them with much needed health services and supporting their volunteer fosters.

PetSmart Charities donated puppy pools to each rescue so the pups could splash about and cool off while patiently waiting for their adoption paperwork to be signed. PetSmart Charities also provided goodie bags for all new adopters, which included a leash and frisbee to get the fun times rollin’!

While attendees were picking out their new pup, DJ Matt filled the air with the latest tunes. Under the shade of the Resort 2 Kindness tent, event attendees were digging into the amazing offerings from the food trucks – BTO YoMobile, Churn & Burn, Fat Green Bowl, il caffe.US and Street Frites. We could not have held Trucks 4 Pups without the trucks and are grateful for their generosity, spirit, and (of course) their mouthwatering food! They not only worked to feed the crowd, but to feed the puppies, too, by donating 10% of their event sales to the dog rescues.

Live music was also provided by Thunder and Rain, whose perfect harmonies and soothing melodies added to the fun vibe! They too came in the spirit of helping the pups and when the electric generator blew a fuse (probably from all the electricity in the air) they continued to play unplugged…What dedication!

Several dog-related vendors participated at the event, including Banfield Pet Hospital, Blue Buffalo Co., Natural Balance Pet Foods and Purina Pro Plan, who were there to talk pet health and nutrition. They handed out samples of their premium products to event attendees and new puppy parents. The vendors also contributed raffle prizes to help raise funds for the rescues and dropped lots of food and supplies into the in-kind donation bins!

Another participating vendor near and dear to our hearts is the Stink Bug Project, a non-profit organization started by Allison Winn. Allison had a brain tumor when she was six years old and she started selling dog biscuits to help raise money for other children fighting life-threatening illnesses so they could get their own therapy dog. We’re so glad they could join us again for this year’s event after being a big source of inspiration during our event in 2012!

We also had, coincidentally enough, a vendor called StinkDog Photos started by Deanna Hurt, who was our official Trucks 4 Pups photographer. Deanna’s love of dogs is undeniably obvious in her stunning photos (click here to view all the official Trucks 4 Pups 2015 pics). And thanks to Deanna’s donation to our cause, one lucky Trucks 4 Pups raffle entrant scored a portrait session with StinkDog Photos.

Speaking of raffle prizes, R2K received an amazing line up of exciting prizes to give away, all donated by doggie loving businesses and loyal R2K fans and members. Please use the contact links provided below to shop and support the people and businesses that provided so much for the event!

Finally, a big thank you to all who made R2K’s Big Give Trucks 4 Pups 2015 possible and so successful! From the surrounding businesses who allowed us to use their parking lot, to those who participated, adopted, ate lunch or just curiously dropped by as you spotted us from the freeway and wondered what was going on with all the balloons and tents and fun! Because of YOU, 35 dogs are now in loving homes and numerous other dogs are out of shelters and living with fosters in cozy homes!

A special thank you goes out to all our Trucks 4 Pups event volunteers, comprising of the R2K volunteer base and HVS Consulting & Valuation Services. Your big smiles, sign spinning and elbow grease was the reason Trucks 4 Pups was such a great success. It could not have been possible without your help, and for that we are SO grateful!
